bloodstreams. Bharat Doshi, the first Dev Gupta Professor
in the School of Engineering, thinks nanodevices, miniscule
instruments smaller than a white blood cell, are a much
more viable means of diagnosing and monitoring medical

The Adoption Question
Andrew and Jinny Rudd have given $2.5 million that, with
matching funds, has created a $6.25 million endowed professorship,
the largest yet on the UMass Amherst campus. The money
will be used to attract and support a superb academic leader
in the field of child development to the clinical division
of the department of psychology and will also establish
lectures and seminars to foster communication between scholars
and public policy experts in adoption. [more]
